I am not kidding when I tell you that podcasts have changed my life. If you asked me 5 years ago what a podcast was, a) I would’ve had no clue what you were talking about and b) once I did find out, I would’ve probably laughed at the thought of listening to people talk on the radio for fun.
When I was in college I was introduced to Serial, a podcast about a high-school lovers and a tragic death. The first episode hooked me right away and the rest is history. I don’t know what it is about crime or murder but it fascinates me. I can’t imagine the pain and suffering that these individuals have gone through and with these podcasts I want to hear their stories and seek justice in some sort of way. If true crime interests you haven’t listened to this story, I HIGHLY suggest it. You’ll be hooked – I promise.
Here are other crime podcasts that I also enjoy:
Sword & Scale – Each Episode is a new story ( for the most part). Very gory at times but also very interesting and slightly crazy.
Crime Junkies: The newest and most recent obsession in the podcast world. I love the narrators ( their both female) and I love hearing their show from a woman’s perspective. I listen to them every week and I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of them!
Dirty John– OMG guys, this story is cray. First of all, the asshole in the story deserves what came to him. Its a story about a woman who was tricked into something that she thought was true. Her children got involved and it was a giant scam. It’s insane to think that this happened in the first place and it makes me wonder how many assholes (like this guy) are in the world.
In the Dark: This story takes place in Minnesota and it involves one of the the biggest child abduction cases in the U.S. P.S. The abductor just confused to his crime. 20+ years later!
Dr. Death: This podcast is from the same people who narrated Dirty John. It is about a “renowned” Doctor who performs a lot of effed up surgeries while high on drugs. Yeah, I know…
Okay, on to brighter topics… Here are some of my non-crime podcast recommendations. I honestly could rant on true crime podcast’s all day so I won’t bore you.
The Good Life – I have been following Stevie and Sazan for so many years now. ( Back when Sazan was around 200K) and let me tell you that these two are GOALZ. I am obsessed with how real/genuine they are. They are hilarious and I’ve enjoyed listening to their show.
How I built this: I am always interested in how people build their business/empires/ etc. As an individual who wants to be a successful entrepreneur, the life lessons and tips learned from this show is so inspiring.
Blogging Unscripted – For all of my content creator/ blogger gals, Danielle Gervino’s podcast is so insightful. She talks about the industry, how to pitch and brand yourself, etc. She’s real and will tell you straight up what you need to do to build your empire.
Well, these are my current faves in the podcast department! If you have any other suggestions or have started any of these podcasts, please feel free to reach out to me in the comments below or on IG! <3
