Valentine’s day outfit ideas

It’s that time of year again! The month of love is finally here. I love this month especially because a) its short and b) I am turning a quarter of a century old! I can’t believe I have been on earth for this long. I feel like the time is seriously just zooming by! My birthday falls right after Valentines day so Shawn and I always combine the two holidays (yes, I consider my birthday a holiday) into the long weekend. Unfortunately for us, Shawn will be deploying again in a couple of weeks so we will be celebrating a little later this year.

If you have been following me on the gram, you can probably tell that I feel the most confident in comfortable clothing. I don’t know what it is about dresses or skirts but I just don’t feel like a 100% myself. Sometimes, I would love to be that girl who shows up in a dress and heels looking like a bombshell but honestly my legs are pasty, I don’t want to shave and I’d rather be in something warm. (real talk)

Below, I have curated a few outfits that I hope will leave you feeling inspired for your upcoming date. Don’t have a significant other in your life? No problem! I have found a ton of cute Galentine’s day outfits too. These are all outfits that I can totally see myself rocking. They’re all practical pieces that can take you beyond this holiday season. So whether you are out on the town or getting brunch with your besties, I am sure that these looks will make you look + feel gorgeous!

Denver Trip Guide

Hello my loves! With my recent trip back to the mile-high city, I thought that it would be fun to share some of the best places to visit in the Denver Metro area. I am so sorry in advance that I don’t have a ton of photos/ if they aren’t great quality. The hubs and I always make a point in being in the moment when together and wanted to spend as much time as we could before he leaves again.

Shawn and I moved to Colorado after college and I had a pounding migraine for almost a month. No matter how much water I drank or med’s I took it just never really went away. I think this mostly had to do with the altitude. Going from sea level to over 5,000 ft was a huge change for me. The air is thiner so not only is it harder to breathe (workouts are intense) but it also is very dehydrating. With regards to my migraine; some people experience it, some don’t. But everyone who is new does experience some form of chapped lips or dry skin. If it is your first time visiting Colorado, I highly suggest you drink plenty of water and moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!!!

The weather can also be a little bipolar. (Especially if you visit in the winter). One day it’ll be 60 degrees and sunny. The next day there will be a blizzard. So be prepared and check the weather beforehand (though it may not even make a difference). If you end up forgetting anything, there are always plenty of shopping centers and my personal favorite Super Targets! We don’t have any Super Targets back home so visiting one in Colorado is a must if you love target as much as I do. It is literally life changing and I am very sad we aren’t blessed with them here.

Below are some of our favorite places to go to when we are both in town!

  1. Angelos Taverna: Shawn and I found this gem a couple of months after moving and they seriously have one of the best happy hours out there. Their food is amazing and we LOVE their chargrilled oysters. $1 raw oysters and $2 chargrilled oysters during HH? This is an insane deal especially in a land locked state. The quality is pretty comparable to the oysters here in the NW so I def approve. If you don’t care for oysters, they have delicious pastas, pizzas and other seafood dishes. Also, did I mention that they have a cute little patio? Perfect for summertime HH seshs with the girlfriends or in this case the hubs. đŸ™‚
  2. Sushi Den: Coming from a state with such a huge seafood presence, we were both skeptical about eating sushi in Colorado… Sushi Den is the only restaurant we trust when it comes to our sushi cravings. They ship everything daily so this is as close as you can get to the fresh live thing. They change the menu seasonally so you are alway getting something new. I recommend their crispy spicy tuna.
  3. Postino LoHi: Surprise, surprise another great HH spot. We love their bruschetta boards and the tasty wine!
  4. Denver Central Market: This was our first time visiting the market and we both loved the atmosphere! Plenty of different vendors to chose from if you’re hungry. A coffee shop, full bar, cute local boutiques, communal seating ( indoors and outdoors) and T.V’s. (If you end up going on a Sunday like us and your hub’s wants to watch the playoff game). The Market is located in the Art’s district so there a lot of cool murals, unique shops, bars and restaurants to check out afterwards if you’re still wanting some more.
  5. The Source/Market Hall: My girlfriends wanted to take me here because similar to the market, it is another communal building. At night it has a brewery, taqueria and a couple of bars. During the day, there is a coffee shop, bakery and a couple of local boutiques. It used to be an old train station so there are a lot of cool architectural aspects to it. It is also connected to a hotel if you need a unique place to stay.

If you are heading to the mountains for some time in the snow, here are a couple of my favorite mountains that we both love!

  1. Vail: I have a sweet spot in my heart for Vail because that was where we got engaged! ( Cue the tears lol) Sadly, I don’t have ant pictures of our engagement. (Thanks again, T-Mobile/Apple for losing them…)But, we had a blast on the slopes and around Vail Village. We stayed at the Four Seasons and highly recommend it. Vail is a little farther away from Denver. It is about a half hour west to Breckenridge which is about a two hour drive from Denver Proper.
  2. Breckenridge: This is where Shawn accidentally took me on a black when we were both newbies to the skiing game. It was awful but I am super grateful for the sweet people who practically carried me down the mountain. Other than that, they have a variety of runs you can go down to and a cute village with a ton of shopping, bars, and restaurants.
  3. Keystone: This is by far our favorite mountain because it is no where near as busy as the first two I mentioned. It has a ton of green’s ( still a newbie lol). And, it’s a cheaper alternative to the more popular mountains. They also offer a sweet military discount too!
  4. Not a mountain to recommend but, if you need any rentals I would suggest heading over to Christy’s. They can fit you the day of, they offer a military discount and I have amazing customer service!

If you are planning a trip to Denver, hopefully this short guide will help you! If you have any questions or need any other recommendations please let me know in the comments below! Thank you so much for reading!

New Years Eve is only a couple of days away and I found a perfect navy jumpsuit that is both comfortable and stylish. If you have been following me this past month, you know that I have been living in jumpsuits this holiday season. I just can’t get over how comfortable they are. Plus, you don’t have to worry about any mishaps that comes along with wearing a dress (cue Marilyn Monroe). This jumpsuit is made from a navy velvet ( which screams luxury) and is accented with shimmering dots. Perfect for NYE parties. I would pair this jumpsuit with a leather jacket. But, if you want to go full glam throw on a faux fur wrap or coat.

I have a feeling that navy will be a popular color this upcoming year. The rich hue makes it a great accent color and it’s neutral enough to pair with the rest of my closet. I love how the subtle pop of color can transform your outfit.

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and I am wishing you all the best in the upcoming new year!

Thank you so much for reading!

Last but not least, this guide is dedicated to your besties, your bff, your girlfriends, whatever you want to call them. These gifts are sure to make your best gal pal uber grateful that they have YOU in their lives. Honestly these are all things that I personally would love. ( hint hint*) These are all items that will make you AND your bestie

  1.  Anastasia Eye Pallet: Okay, so this is probably one of the most beautiful eye pallets I have ever laid my eyes on. With that being said, if your girl loves makeup or wants to experiment/learn more about makeup, I think that this pallet would be perfect. It has really great neutral shades and they’re all SO pretty.
  2. Dry Bar Faves: I LOVE my dry bar products. For some reason they’re the only brand that works well with my hair. It doesn’t leave my hair stiff or greasy which I love and this bundle deal is at such a great price point!
  3. Anthro Frames: Who doesn’t love a good picture of themselves? A go to gift of mine is always a picture of a gal pal and I in a pretty frame. It’s a great decor piece and if for some reason the friendship falls through at least you have the frame!
  4. What do you MEME?: I love a good card game. I recently discovered this new one that cracks me up every time I think about it. Its definitely a party pleaser and super entertaining. You and your BFF can play this during your weekly wine nights. Please let me know how it goes!
  5. Argento Vivo Necklace: I wear this necklace on the daily and I love how delicate it is. Your BFF deserves the best so why not get her something nice?
  6. BECCA Glow: Highlighter & your bestie…is there a better combination? You always want your gal looking like a queen so why not get her this highlight kit so she can glow like the queen she is?
  7. Hungry for more: We all know that Christy Teigen and John Legend are GOALS. So why not get your best friend Christy’s new cookbook? Especially when you can make some bomb app’s for your wine nights!
  8. Volupsa Candles: I’m sure you’re all tired of hearing me talk about Volupsa candles, but they’re honestly so amazing your bestie deserves a nice candle. (or two)
  9. Free people scarf: This scarf seriously doubles as a blanket. It’ll keep both you and your gal pal warm. đŸ˜‰
  10. Prosseco Pong: UM WHAT? Where was this when I was in college? This is a WAY better option to the alternative. We’re classy ladies after all!

Thanks again for reading! I hope this post made you smile and hopefully you leave feeling inspired to treat that queen in your life you call your bestie!

I am probably the biggest homebody I know and I’m sure you all can probably relate or know of someone who is. With that being said, I love to be in the comfort of my home so I am going to keep this pretty short. I created a list of items that I would personally love to receive this holiday season. I hope this list will inspire you or your homebody sister, girlfriend etc!

Let’s get this list started!

  1. Soft, Fuzzy Blanket: From the description I just gave, thats more than enough incentive to purchase. Seriously, who doesn’t love a good soft blanket?!
  2. Volupsa Candles: This candle set comes with four candles which is super nice especially if your gal is particular about scents. AND the packaging is super neutral and should go with a majority of decor.
  3. Stemless wine glasses: I ALWAY’S break my wine glasses. They either break in the dishwasher or maybe I’ve had too much wine, who knows. What I do know is that stemless wine glasses have become the best liquor vestibules I own. Plus, they always come in handy.
  4. Home Body by Joanna Gaines: UM HELLO, the title just speaks for itself.
  5. Herbivore bath & body kit: Perfect for a nice long bath.
  6. Diffuser: I love my diffuser almost as much as I love my candles. I also love how you are able to customize the scent every time.
  7. Agate Cheese Board: If you love to entertain in the comfort of your home then this cheese board should be speaking to you right now. It’s elevated almost luxurious and super chic.
  8. Wooden Bath Tray: This tray is super handy when you want to read a book or watch a show!

Hope my guide helps and Happy Holidays!
